I. Introductions
II. Treasurer Report - Gloria reported that we have $477.33 in the account.
III. Vision for the year
  • Recruit - People may not know we exist.  Discussed sponsoring a workshop.  Decided that hosting a webconference on a topic of interest dealing with serving Spanish speaking communities would be a good way to get the word out.  Tentatively set the date for 11/18 or 11/19 at 10: a.m.  Discussed possible speakers.  Will try to get at least two speakers.  Michelle will try to contact Camila Alire, Shannon wil try Isabel Schon, and Deirdre will try Pat Mora.  The tentative topic is best practice for reaching out to Spanish speaking communities.  Jenny will moderate session.  Everyone will work on a flyer to use for advertising.
  • Discussed hosting a mixer at AZLA on 12/8.  Deirdre will f/up to see if we can get a room to host the mixer.
  • Shanon shared the idea of having dia kits available for check-out at libraries instead of doing a once a year campaign.  She discussed Multnomah's example.  Discussed possible grants we could pursue like LSTA, Pat Mora, companies, and others.  Gloria will f/up on our non-profit status.  Everyone will work on making a donation letter to sent to companies.
  • Discussed a possible retreat on 9/19-20 in Deirdre's parent's cabin.
  • To Do:
    • f/up with possible speakers
    • work on a recruiting flyer, donation letter, and web-conferencing advertisement.
